A woman suffered severe burns after a gas cylinder exploded at her residence in SC Colony near Kanipakam in Chittoor district on Wednesday morning.
According to police, the incident took place when the woman, Chinna Papamma (35), lit the stove to prepare tea. The refill reportedly exploded all of a sudden, with her clothes catching fire subsequently. The neighbours rushed to her rescue and shifted her to Government District Hospital here. Her condition is said to be critical.
Meanwhile, the Fire and police personnel rushed to the spot and launched a probe to ascertain the circumstances which led to the blast. A case was registered.
