Lord Jagannath, a form of Lord Krishna, is one of the most famous and revered Gods in Hinduism, and especially in Orissa. Jagannath means ‘Lord of the Universe’, and he is worshipped along with his siblings, Balabhadra and Subhadra, in the Jagannath Temple. The Puri temple is also a part of the Char Dham yatra, and also hosts its own Rath Yatra once every year where the Lord of the Universe sets out with his siblings to meet his aunt in the Gundicha temple.
The beautiful and mesmerising idol of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra are carved from wood, unlike majority idols that are made with marble and stone, and his eyes are large and cordial, almost as if he is in wait of his devotees and looking at them from afar.
