Visakhapatnam International Airport has registered unprecedented growth in December 2024, compared to December 2023.
The number of domestic passengers increased to 2,63,705 in December 2024 from 2,13,711 in December 2023 and the international passengers increased from 5,600 to 1,874 during the same period. Similarly, the number of domestic flights increased from 1,546 in December 2023 to 1874 in December 2024 and international flights increased from 38 to 82 during the same period.
Visakhapatnam had very good occupancy with more than 70% occupancy on flights from Visakhapatnam to various destinations in India and also to Singapore during October and November 2024. The Visakahpatnam-Singapore flight had more than 75% occupancy during both the months. The flights to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai had very good occupancy with more than 70% during those two months.
Airport Director S. Raja Reddy had called upon airline operators in the past to utilise the available slots to start new flights in view of the tremendous demand from Visakhapatnam.
