A meeting of the United Democratic Front (UDF) held in Kochi on Monday (December 22, 2025) decided to induct the All India Trinamool Congress (Kerala Unit) led by former MLA P.V. Anvar, C.K. Janu’s Janadhipathya Rashtriya Sabha, and Kerala Kamaraj Congress led by Vishnupuram Chandrasekharan as associate members in its fold.
UDF chairman V.D. Satheesan told mediapersons that the they have offered “unconditional support” to the front. “We will hold further parleys with them to strengthen the alliance ahead of the forthcoming Assembly elections. The UDF decided to induct them as associates based on the letters submitted by the leaders. The UDF will further expand its base as it will emerge as a broader platform welcoming parties and people from various streams,” he said.
On the reports about welcoming Kerala Congress (M) into the front, Mr. Satheesan said that no such talks have been held yet, though the UDF “has not shut the door before anyone.”
Mr. Satheesan pointed out that the UDF would organise a jatha from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram in the first week of February. The programme will be an opportunity to present the UDF’s manifesto for the “comprehensive development” of Kerala before the public. The seat-sharing talks with the alliance partners will be completed before January 15, he said.
