Two persons were killed in the early hours of Sunday after a sand-laden lorry collided with a motorbike at Greenlands, Panjagutta.
According to an officer from the Panjagutta police, the accident occurred at around 5.30 a.m. when a 16-wheeler lorry (TS 09 UD 9279) travelling towards Begumpet rammed into a bike (TG 04 C 7248) from behind. The rider, Mudhangal Naveen, 30, a bike taxi driver from JNTU, died on the spot due to the impact, while the pillion rider, Kasturi Jagadish Chandra, 35, a general physician working at KIMS-Sunshine Hospital, residing at Methodist Colony, Kundanbagh, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Somajiguda,” said the officer.
The lorry driver, Pasupula Shankar, 38, a native of Peddakottapally in Nagarkurnool district, has been taken into custody. A case has been registered and an investigation is under way.
