A woman reportedly came under attack from two persons in North Paravur as an alleged retributive act for a case registered by her husband, an Excise preventive officer, under the Abkari Act.
Rakesh, 34, and his accomplice Firoz, 28, were arrested by the North Paravur police. According to the first information report (FIR), the petitioner sustained injuries after being hit by stones allegedly thrown by the accused at her and her home causing damage to property. Besides, a car parked in the portico of the petitioner’s was also allegedly vandalised.
The alleged incident took place on Sunday (December 15). Complaints were filed by preventive officer Haneesh V.S. and his wife separately.
According to the Excise officer, Rakesh along with the accomplice had gone to his house and created a ruckus on Sunday around 3 p.m. He allegedly returned multiple times in the night as well. The officer claimed that he had sustained injuries after being hit by a bottle hurled at him by the accused.
He said the accused had attacked him and his family out of grudge for having acted against the alleged illegal liquor sale by the accused. The accused were booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections 329(3) (criminal trespass), 324(4) (commits mischief and thereby causes loss or damage to the amount of twenty thousand rupees and more but less than one lakh rupees), 118(1) (intentionally causes harm to another using dangerous tools or methods), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation).
