A 19-year-old woman died when she fell off her scooter after hitting the road divider at Koppam Junction in Palakkad town on Tuesday morning. Akshara, who is a second-year undergraduate student of VLB Janakiammal College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, was returning after dropping her younger brother at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kanjikode, when the accident took place.
The police said she hit the concrete divider when trying to give way for a container truck. Although she was wearing a helmet, it broke in the impact of the fall.
Akshara is the daughter of M. Jayakrishnan, who is an employee of State Bank of India at Kongad branch, and Vidya from Krishnakananthi Colony at Puthur.
