A woman riding a two-wheeler died in an accident near the Government Medical College Hospital, Kalamassery, on Saturday (February 22, 2025) noon, the second woman bike rider to die in an accident at Kalamassery within a week.
Bushara Beevi, 41, of Kakkanad reportedly lost control of the scooter that she was riding after she lost balance due to the gap between the tarred surface of the road and the shoulder that was resurfaced with concrete paver blocks. She was subsequently hit by a car. The unscientific construction of the road is said to have led to the accident. The police have launched a probe.
On Wednesday (February 19, 2025), a woman KSEB official was fatally hit by a lorry, hardly a few metres away from the spot where the police were engaged in vehicle inspection, near HMT Junction.
