With historical roots in India, carrom is today played in living rooms, public spaces, clubs, cafes, game halls of school and colleges, and recreation rooms of hotels and offices across 75 countries.
However, the game’s popularity had withered over the years. Now, Indians are finding their love for the game once again.
The popularity picked up during the Covid pandemic, when people sharpened their skills during lockdowns.
Carrom manufacturers had migrated from Sialkot in Pakistan to Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, which is now the hub of carrom board manufacturing. Earlier, carrom making was seasonal, which fetched good business six months a year, but now since the spike in demand, carrom makers are kept busy through the year.
We also look at how a carrom board is made, and the demand for convertible carrom board manufactured by Stag, which exports to the Middle East too.
