Hundreds of Velugu Village Organisation Assistants (VOAs) gathered at the Dharna Chowk in Vijayawada on Monday, December 16, demanding the NDA government fulfil its poll promise and withdraw the circular which was issued by the YSRCP government terminating their services on completion of 45 years of age.
Velugu VOAs (Animators) Employees’ Union State general secretary K. Dhana Lakshmi said that those who have already been removed from duties must be taken back. Pointing out that their working hours have been increasing by the day, the VOAs demanded that the work pressure be decreased and pending dues be paid immediately. They urged the State government to respect the stay orders of the court on the illegal termination of VOAs.
