A recent meeting between Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y.S. Sharmila and V. Vijaya Sai Reddy, a former YSRCP leader and a close confidant of party president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, in Hyderabad has set the rumour mills churning.

Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy, after announcing his retirement from politics and resigning from the Rajya Sabha seat, met Ms. Sharmila on January 30 at her residence.

Their meeting at a time when parties are hotly debating the exact cause of his exit from the YSRCP and the uncertainty over his next course of action has sparked speculation.

It is not known what transpired between the two in the close to three-hour-long meeting.

The political rivalry between Ms. Sharmila and her brother Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy is a known fact.

Ms. Sharmila has been vocal about “the reign of anarchy” unleashed by her brother’s party in the State and, lately, a property dispute between the siblings grabbed headlines when the two sides called media conferences to criticise each other.

Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy had then supported Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy and blamed Ms. Sharmila for the disagreements that had surfaced over the family property.

In response to Mr. Vijay Sai Reddy’s resignation from Rajya Sabha, Ms. Sharmila said he should at least now speak the truth in the murder case of Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy.
