The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday (March 23, 2025) issued a show-cause notice to its MLA from Loni, Nand Kishor Gurjar, for publicly criticising the government, which is damaging the ruling partyβs image. The notice was issued days after the MLA alleged during a press conference that Uttar Pradesh has the most corrupt government ever, and the officers are misleading Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and looting the exchequer.
The notice was issued a day before the BJP government under CM Yogi Adityanath was set to complete eight years in office.
βThe partyβs State president Bhupendra Chaudhary issued a show-cause notice to Loni MLA Nand Kishor Gurjar, seeking an explanation for publicly criticising the government, which harmβs the partyβs image and falls under the category of indiscipline. As per the direction of the partyβs national president Jagat Prakash Nadda, you are informed to reply to this letter on why disciplinary action should not be taken against you,β the statement from U.P. BJP reads.
Mr. Gurjar has repeatedly questioned the government and administration over corruption in the past. In his press conference, the MLA alleged that the chief secretary had βtied the brainβ of the Chief Minister. βThe women of Loni were conducting a Ram Kalash Yatra on Thursday (March 20, 2025), but the police attempted to intercept it,β the MLA said.
Local police said the MLA and his supporters were trying to hold the Yatra without permission. However, the MLA claimed that an application for permission had been submitted by the SDM of Loni.
