Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay on Sunday (March 16, 2025) demanded a fair investigation into the financial irregularities alleged by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation Limited, popularly known as Tasmac, to the tune of ₹ 1,000 crore.
Referring to several alleged irregularities exposed by the ED in Tasmac, involving distillery companies and bottling entities, Mr. Vijay, in a statement, said, “These charges could be interpreted as those who have much knowledge and experience in committing frauds would only be able to perpetrate such a large-scale scam. These financial irregularities in Tasmac are minimal. With deep investigation, small fishes to giant whales would be caught in this scam.”
Raising doubts on whether there will be a fair investigation on the issue, Mr. Vijay, once again, indirectly accused the BJP and the DMK of having a secret alliance.
“The DMK would have planned to face the 2026 Assembly election and arrogantly claimed to win 200 seats, only using the money swindled by committing such financial frauds. The tricks of the empty advertisement model DMK government will not work even if it pumps in several crores. People will definitely unseat the DMK from power,” he added.
