Telangana Government has focussed on strengthening the rural road network in the coming days.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced sanction of ₹1,000 crore for the development of rural roads directing the officials to take up the works in the right earnest. He wanted the Finance department to release ₹150 crore a month from the current month till June for taking up development of rural road network.
The Chief Minister gave the directions during a meeting with senior officials to review the progress of Regional Ring Road (RRR), national highways and related works held in Hyderabad on Friday (January 3, 2025). He wanted steps to be taken to construct BT roads from all villages to the respective mandal headquarters and simultaneously, steps should be taken to see that the road width was finalised keeping in view the future needs.
“BT roads from all gram panchayats including the newly created ones to the respective mandal headquarters is a must. Complaints on absence of roads to villages should be a thing of the past,” Mr. Reddy said.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to expedite the acquisition of land for the prestigious RRR project. Officials should take steps to complete land acquisition pertaining to the Nagpur-Vijayawada corridor which has been pending in some districts of the State before Sankranti.
Measures should also be initiated to resolve pending issues pertaining to the Forest department at the earliest. Accordingly, the Forest and R&B officials were asked to ensure effective coordination between the two departments in completing the pending works. The departments were asked to nominate one senior officer each as nodal officers in this direction so that acquisition of land pertaining to the two departments is expedited.
