Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav and his sister Rohini Acharya on Tuesday (March 11, 2025) slammed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the incident in which jewellery worth ₹25 crore was robbed in Ara, Bhojpur district.
On Monday (March 10, 2025), six armed men pretending to be customers carried out a heist by robbing the jewellery shop at gunpoint.
Mr. Yadav posted the CCTV footage of the robbery and wrote a sarcastic message on social media platform ‘X’ calling it an auspicious video of showroom robbery.
“Courtesy to NDA after 2005 Modi Ji’s beloved Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s 6- 7 beloved goons, carrying out a small robbery in broad daylight easily looted jewellery worth ₹25 crore in 17 minutes from the Tanishq showroom located a few steps away from the Superintendent of Police’s residence and the police station,”Mr. Yadav said in the post.
Last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Darbhanga to take part in an official function in which he had addressed Mr. Kumar by calling him “Ladla (beloved) CM of Bihar.
The former Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Yadav further said, “Hundreds of rounds of bullets are fired every day in Bihar. Hundreds of murders take place every month under government protection. There is no record of looting, snatching, theft, kidnapping and rape.”
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader added, “The Chief Minister is unconscious. Administrative anarchy has spread everywhere. Corrupt people and goons are running the government. People of Bihar should take care of themselves and their families. Businessmen should please protect their lives and property by themselves. Keeping any expectation from this corrupt, illegal and useless government is like putting yourself in harm and deception.”
Later police chased the criminal and nabbed two of them apart from recovering two out of three bags full of looted jewellery. The police also seized one bike which was used for robbery along with two pistols and 10 live cartridges.
Ms. Acharya in a separate post also attacked Mr. Kumar over the robbery saying that the claim of good governance by Bihar CM is shattered.
“Nitish Kumar ji, no matter how much you and your media management keep trumpeting the rule of law in Bihar, the truth is this, which the whole world is aware of, that “all your claims of good governance have been shattered and you have become synonymous with a helpless, unsuccessful and useless ruler,”Ms. Acharya said in the ‘X’ post.
She added, “Nitish Kumar ji, due to the compulsion to remain stuck with the chair, you have left Bihar at the mercy of criminals and your police-administration has bowed down before the criminals in the entire state. Seeing the increased morale and intentions of the criminals, it seems that one day the fearless criminals may enter the so-called safest residence of the state, ‘Chief Minister’s residence’ and you will be left sitting idle!”
Bihar Congress Chief Akhilesh Prasad Singh termed the incident ‘Jungle Raj’ blaming NDA government led by Mr. Kumar.
