Strength in manufacturing, application of deep technologies, and the willingness of students to work towards progress and development made Tamil Nadu a unique place for innovation, said Ashutosh Dutt Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of I-Hub Foundation for Cobotics (Technology Innovation Hub of IIT-Delhi).
Speaking at an event held to mark the launch of Co innovation Centre at Crescent Innovation and Incubation Council (CIIC) in B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology (BSACIST), Mr. Sharma said the State had a very strong ecosystem in manufacturing and hardware that made it ideal from the perspective of the field of robotics.
“There is huge potential in Tamil Nadu students, and general willingness to work in this direction,” he added.
Such Co Innovation Centres — 10 of them across India, including the one launched at BSACIST-CIIC — have been established under the Government of India’s National Mission on Inter-Disciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Qadir, Pro Chancellor of BSACIST, said there were plenty of opportunities for students in India, which was a huge market for new products. Identifying a problem, arriving at a solution and creating a prototype with a sound proposal would help students in gaining access to resources and funds, he added.
