A 14-year-old schoolboy died on Tuesday (February 11, 2025) after he and his classmate got into a fight inside a school van.
The deceased, A. Kandhaguru, a resident of Vellandivalasu near Edappadi, was a class 9 student at a private school in Edappadi. He took the van after school on Monday evening, and as it approached his village, his classmate allegedly teased him. The duo got into a fight and came to blows. Suddenly, Kandhaguru collapsed in the school van.
He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in the locality and was referred to another private hospital in Salem for further treatment. He died at the hospital on Tuesday morning.
The Edappadi police have registered a case and are investigating the events in the school van that led to the boy’s death. Sources in the police said Kandhaguru had certain pre-existing health issues, and that they were awaiting the postmortem report to determine the exact cause of death.
