Pushcart vendor arrested for sexually assaulting minor boy in Bengaluru

The Vidyaranyapura police on Monday arrested a 70-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor boy who visited a nearby temple on Sunday. Ram Manohar, a native of U.P. and residing in BEL Layout, was booked under various sections of the POCSO Act and remanded in judicial custody.

According to the police, Manohar sold puja-related materials on a pushcart outside a temple under the Vidyaranyapura police station limits. The victim, aged 11, visited the temple and was returning home after collecting prasada.

The accused lured the victim on the pretext of offering snacks, took him to an isolated area, and sexually assaulted him, the police said.

The victim went home and narrated the incident to his parents, who reached out to the police, and a case was registered. The boy was subject to a medical examination and counselling for further investigation.
