The State government has appointed Vennam Uma as Vice-Chancellor of Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam, Tirupati. She is currently serving as in-charge Vice-Chancellor for the State’s lone all-women university.
Prof. Uma joined SPMVV as an assistant professor in the Department of Social Work in 1983, became an associate professor in 1993 and a professor in 2001. With 41 years of teaching experience, she has also occupied the in-charge Vice-Chancellor’s seat in the past, i.e., from October 2018 to January 2020.
She has received the Commonwealth Academic Staff Scholarship from the University of East Anglia (UK) during 1989-92 and the ‘Best Teacher award’ from the Andhra Pradesh government for the year 2014.
Prof. Uma will hold the position for a period of three years.
