The Mandipalli Nagireddy Memorial Trust on Sunday organised a mass annadanam (poor feeding) at Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy temple here, on the occasion of Sri Sitarama Kalyanam. About 10,000 devotees from all over Rayachoti division thronged the temple and offered prayers, marking the Srirama Navami celebrations.
The temple authorities in coordination with the district police made elaborate arrangements for the devotees.
Minister for Transport, Youth Affairs, and Sports Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy extended his Srirama Navami greetings to the people.
Later, the Minister visited the Jagadamba Centre in the town, and participated in the annadanam programme, serving food to the devotees.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Ramprasad Reddy said that he prayed for the wellbeing of the people of Andhra Pradesh, and hoped that all would joyfully celebrate Sri Rama Navami.
Meanwhile, thousands of devotees from all over Rayalaseema districts and neighbouring States thronged the famous temple of Lord Sri Pattabhi Ramaswami at Valmikipuram and offered prayers. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams and the district police made elaborate arrangements for the devotees. The temple administration is gearing up for the Sitarama Kalyanotsavam event, scheduled on Monday.
