Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan ordered inspections on industries releasing foul odour along the Kakinada coastal area. He also asked the Pollution Control Board to investigate Universal Biofuels Pvt. Ltd. in Kakinada.
In the Kakinada Vaklapudi Industrial Area, residents of surrounding villages are facing severe distress due to the release of the foul odour from Universal Biofuels Pvt. Ltd. Responding to the issue, the Deputy Chief Minister spoke to Pollution Control Board (PCB) Chairman Krishnaiah and Kakinada Regional Officer Shankar Rao. Mr. Pawan Kalyan instructed them to assess whether Universal Biofuels Pvt. Ltd. was adhering to pollution control regulations and to provide an immediate report. He emphasised the need to ensure that the public is not affected by air pollution.
Following the Deputy Chief Minister’s orders, PCB officials conducted an inspection and found that the company was using raw materials that violate the regulations. As a result, strong and foul-smelling gases were being released into the atmosphere. Officials have stated that they are conducting a deeper investigation into the matter, according to a press release.
Olive Ridley deaths
The Deputy CM asked Forest Department officials to investigate the death of a large number of rare Olive Ridley turtles along Kakinada beach. He directed the Forest Department to investigate the causes behind the deaths of these turtles and take action against those responsible. Additionally, he ordered a comprehensive study on the measures required for the protection of wildlife. Mr. Pawan Kalyan specifically instructed Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Head of Forest Force Chiranjeevi Chaudhary to look into the matter, according to a press release.
