No group rides, no throwing colours on unwilling people: Hyderabad police issue orders ahead of Holi 2025

In view of Holi festival in Hyderabad which is to be celebrated from the midnight of March 13 and on March 14, the Hyderabad police have imposed restrictions on the movement of vehicles in groups on streets and throwing colours to prevent disturbances and ensure public safety. The order, issued by Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand, will be in force from 6 p.m. on March 13 to 6 a.m. on March 15.

The directive prohibits the movement of two-wheelers and other vehicles in groups on public roads and places, warning that such gatherings could disturb peace and order or cause inconvenience and danger to the public. It also bans throwing colours or coloured water on unwilling persons, vehicles, and places, as well as smearing unwilling people with colour in public areas, citing potential annoyance and disruption.

Any violation of the order will result in prosecution under Section 76 of the Hyderabad City Police Act, 1348 Fasli, the official said.
