Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu set the stage for transformative governance at the Ministers and Secretaries Conference on Tuesday (February 11), emphasizing the need for integrated leadership, strategic planning, and innovative governance to drive Andhra Pradesh towards its ambitious targets for 2047.
As part of his long-term vision, Mr. Naidu outlined the ‘Swarnandhra 2047’ roadmap, aligning with the national vision of Viksit Bharat. The strategy focuses on achieving a sustained 15% growth rate and ensuring fiscal responsibility by effectively managing and repaying loans. Accelerating revenue growth, streamlining bureaucratic processes, and fostering a culture of innovation is the need of the hour. To compare with, he said, Gujarat has grown 15 times while West Bengal has expanded four times, despite not possessing more resources.
Referring to the State’s challenges, the Chief Minister pointed to the deteriorated morale of officials, defunct departments, and derailed projects. He revealed that nearly 90 centrally sponsored schemes had become non-functional due to mismanagement and fund diversions. In response, the government is now prioritizing the optimal implementation of Central schemes and ensuring the right people are placed in key positions, he said.
Laying down ambitious economic milestones, Mr. Naidu set the targets, including, achieving USD 42,000 per capita income by 2047; Transforming Andhra Pradesh into a USD 2.4 trillion Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) economy by 2047; and designing the 2025-26 Budget to be innovative and goal-oriented to drive growth.
Enlisting key principles driving the administration’s agenda he stressed the need to strengthening family welfare services, ensuring streetlights, roads, drainage, garbage collection, and a circular economy model to build a healthier and wealthier society, he said and suggested the officials to leverage the “first mover advantage” to secure Central funds under the newly announced Union Budget schemes.
Shift in Indian politics
Emphasising a paradigm shift in Indian politics, Mr. Naidu noted that voters have rejected false promises and now demand performance-driven leadership. He urged government officials to shoulder their responsibilities with dedication and reaffirmed his commitment to a governance model that prioritises delivery, transparency, and long-term progress.
Reflecting on his return to office eight months ago, Mr. Naidu acknowledged the historic mandate that brought him back to power, highlighting an impressive 93% voter turnout. The people had decisively rejected the previous five years of governance and placed new hopes in the current administration, he added.
