Mother tongue essential to preserve culture, says CBC head

Rajindher Chaudhry, Additional Director-General of Central Bureau of Communication (CBC-Vijayawada), said that mother tongue plays an important role in preserving the cultural heritage in India, besides promoting the Indian Knowledge System (IKS).

CBC, in collaboration with Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV), took out a rally in connection with β€˜International Mother Language Day’ here on Friday (February 21), wherein he highlighted India’s linguistic diversity and described it as a testament to the nation’s β€˜unity in diversity’.

SPMVV dean (social sciences) C. Vani encouraged the students to create narratives to safeguard and promote their cultural identity. Kolakaluri Madhu Jyothi also took part.

The event featured a series of competitions organised by the institute’s department of Telugu, faculty of languages, in which over 150 students from various disciplines took part.

The participants took part in essay writing, elocution and a unique live poetry competition on β€˜Artificial Intelligence’.

As a symbolic gesture, the participants planted saplings as part of the initiative β€˜Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’.
