Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has invited the public to purchase compost for domestic use.
The civic body has announced on X (earlier Twitter) that it collects approximately 250 metric tonnes of segregated wet waste daily, including fruit and vegetable peels from households and market waste.
“The wet waste is composted by the aerobic window composting method without applying any chemical reagents. This compost is good for soil conditioner, which can be used for growing plants,” said MCC in its post.
Hence, the MCC has invited the citizens of Mysuru, farmers, estate owners, green belt developers, schools and colleges, industrial estates, IT campuses, etc to purchase the compost generated at MCC-owned compost plants in Kesare and Rayanakere.
Further, the MCC said its compost was rich in plant nutrients, increases soil fertility, and improves soil structure, microbial activity, and water retention capacity. It is available at a lower rate.
