Mappilapattu singer Faijas Uliyil, 38, a native of Uliyil lost his life in a road accident near Punnad town in Iritty. The accident occurred around midnight when two cars collided, leaving five passengers injured.
Faijas was trapped inside one of the vehicles, and local residents, along with the fire brigade from Iritty, worked to rescue him. Despite being rushed to a hospital in Mattannur, he succumbed to his injuries. His body has been shifted to the hospital morgue.
The police and the Motor Vehicles department are investigating the cause of the accident. The injured passengers are undergoing treatment.
