The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has got approval from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to use Aadhaar-based authentication for the Common Entrance Test (CET) registration. The CET is the gateway to professional courses, including engineering.

CET 2025 registration will be held on three level authentication, including Aadhaar based authentication and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered face recognition system.

With an aim to curb irregularities like seat blocking, the KEA had decided to go for Aadhaar-based registration for entrance exams like the CET, the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), and recruitment exams, and submitted a proposal to the UIDAI.

Prasanna H., Executive Director of KEA, said, “To safeguard students’ interests and prevent misuse of their data, enhanced security features have been incorporated. As the registration process has already resumed, we will introduce Aadhaar linked authentication from the next level of CET process. Currently, we have enabled one-time password (OTP) verification and facial recognition for logging into the application.

“Students will have to enter their Aadhaar number while filing the application or choosing their option. As soon as students enter their Aadhaar number, an OTP will be sent to the mobile number. This OTP will be directly generated from the UIDAI. After entering this OTP, the application will proceed to the next level.”

After registration for every level of CET 2025 process, till the student has reported at the college, Aadhaar based authentication will be in place. KEA authorities have advised students to use the mobile number linked with Aadhaar during CET process. There is no option to change the mobile number in the middle of the process.
