Senior Civil Judge and District Legal Services Authority member-secretary M.S. Santhosh has called upon the youth to lead happy and healthy lives by abstaining from narcotic drugs and alcohol.
He spoke after inaugurating an inter-college National Service Scheme camp organised on Kuvempu University campus at Shankarghatta in Bhadravati taluk on Thursday.
Mr. Santhosh said that in the present times, the youth have many attractions. They need to make better use of their student days by not falling victim to bad habits. The students should be restrained from using mobile phones and the internet.
“The addiction to bad habits would make the youths lose patience and suffer from loneliness. They need proper awareness of the factors that affect their health,” he said.
Kuvempu University Vice-Chancellor Sharath Ananthamurthy, Registrar S.M. Gopinath, NSS programme coordinator Shubha Maravanthe, and others were present.
The university is conducting a seven-day inter-college camp. As many as 150 students from Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru districts are participating in the camp.
