On the eve of the oath-taking ceremony, caretaker Chief Minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Executive President Hemant Soren on Wednesday (November 27, 2024) visited his native village Nemra along with his wife Kalpana Soren to garland the statue of his grandfather late Sobran Soren on his 67th death anniversary.
On the occasion, Mr. Soren said that every year he visits the place to remember and pay tribute to Sobaran Soren ji. He asserted that Mr. Sobaran’s sacrifice could never be forgotten.
While addressing the people present of his village, Mr. Soren said, “The oath-taking ceremony which will be held on November 28, 2024 at Morabadi Ground in Ranchi will be historic. I cordially invite all of you to attend the swearing-in ceremony.”

Many top leaders of the INDIA bloc have been invited to be part of the event. Sources said only Mr. Soren would take oath and the expansion of the Cabinet would take place later. As per the informed sources, he will take oath at 4 PM.
As per the information received, the top leaders who are attending the ceremony include West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Aam Aadmi Party leader (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal and his wife Sunita Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Akhilesh Yadav, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya will also attend the event.
Mr. Soren and Ms. Kalpana had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday to invite them for the ceremony.
Election result
Out of 81 Assembly seats in Jharkhand, the INDIA bloc emerged victorious in 56 seats while the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won 24 seats. Jharkhand Loktrantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM), led by Jairam Tiger Mahto, won one seat.
Mr. Soren will be sworn in as Jharkhand Chief Minister for his fourth term. He is the seventh Chief Minister of the State.
Mr. Soren took charge as Chief Minister for the first time in 2013.
In the 2014 Assembly elections, JMM became the second largest party and he was made the Leader of the Opposition. He took oath for the second time after emerging victorious in the 2019 Assembly elections.
On July 4, he was sworn-in as CM for the third time after he was released from jail in an alleged money laundering case. Champai Soren, who is now a BJP MLA, was the Chief Minister during the period when he was in Jail.
