Govt. accords administrative sanction to 20 engineering works costing ₹11,468 crore in Amaravati

The Government of Andhra Pradesh on January 8, 2025 (Wednesday) accorded administrative sanction to 20 engineering works in the capital city Amaravati valued at ₹11,468 crore.

A G.O. to this effect was issued by Secretary (Municipal Administration & Urban Development-CRDA) K. Kanna Babu.

This would pave the way for the AP Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) to float tenders for the works and commence them in the coming few months.

The CRDA had so far approved capital works costing approximately ₹50,000 crore and it was in the process of mobilising funds from the World Bank (WB), Asian Development Bank, HUDCO and other lending agencies.

Separately, a G.O. had been issued for the release of ₹255.67 crore towards the Capital Region Social Security Fund and Assistance to CRDA for revenue expenditure items.

It may be noted that the WB had approved a $800 million loan for the Amaravati Integrated Urban Development Program (AIUDP) as per a request made by the Government of India. The AIUDP is aimed at establishing the capital city as a well-managed, climate-resilient growth center in A.P. that will generate jobs and improve the lives of its current and future residents, especially the most vulnerable.
