A double BJP engine government at the Centre and in the State can provide “corruption-free” governance for Telangana, and that the “prevailing corruption, loot of public wealth and other illegal activities” is due to the previous BRS and the current Congress government, said Telangana BJP president and Union Minister of Coal & Mines G. Kishan Reddy on Monday.
Addressing a gathering after welcoming new members into the party at the State office, he claimed that there has not been a “single allegation of corruption” against any of the Central Ministers despite the party being in power for the last 10 years.
The Congress government in Telangana “goes against people’s aspirations” and hence, citizens have chosen BJP as the “right party” having helped it win eight Parliament seats in Lok Sabha elections held last year, he claimed.
Earlier, in an informal meeting with the media, Mr. Kishan Reddy said the Centre will definitely consider giving permissions for the proposed metro rail second phase, regional ring road, regional ring rail and even the Musi rejuvenation project as per the existing norms.
Chief Secretary A.Shanti Kumari has already sought an appointment with him for making a presentation about the metro rail extension proposals, he said and pointed out that the Centre had given a viability gap funding of up to ₹1,250 crore for the first phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR).
The party will contest local body polls and is quite confident of winning a majority of seats. He accused the past and present governments of ignoring the rural areas by not clearing pending bills though the Centre has been generous in granting necessary funds for rural infrastructure as well as for railways and highways.
The BJP leader claimed that the party is not against “freebies” but said the financial situation should be considered before making promises lest the State becomes bankrupt. The Congress government here had failed to implement guarantees, does not have money to pay salaries and is on the lookout for fresh loans, he said.
Meanwhile, he also mentioned that anyone in the party is eligible to become the State president, including the elected MP/MLAs, and it is not necessary that the person concerned should have a Sangh background, before hastening to add that the Central leadership will take call on it.
In a separate press conference, Malakjgiri MP Eatala Rajender said there is a conspiracy by anti-social elements to usurp the Balaljinagar-Jawaharnagar slum land by uprooting the 1.5 lakh population, and that it is being done in collusion with government employees. The Congress government is “most corrupt”, “directionless” and has “no control over the administration”, he added.
