Government doctors in the State have protested against an ‘open threat’ levelled against them by a Muslim Youth League (MYL) leader of Tirurangadi a few days ago. U.A. Razak, Tirurangadi zonal president of the MYL, had threatened to ‘handle the doctors on the road’ during a protest staged at Chemmad last week.
The protest was against the alleged negligence of the doctors at the Government District Hospital, Tirurangadi.
Describing his speech as a public call to attack the doctors, government doctors under the banner of the Kerala Government Medical Officers Association (KGMOA) demanded that he be brought to book.
“The public conscience should rise against such barbaric calls. We should never have yet another hapless Vandana Das and the postgraduate student of R.G. Kar Medical College Hospital, Kolkata,” said the KGMOA in a statement.
