CM Stalin is one of the resolute voices from the South against Hindutva, attack on federalism and imposition of Hindi: Kamal Haasan

Makkal Needhi Maiam founder Kamal Haasan on Saturday said that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has become one of the resolute voices from South India against Union Government’s implementation of Hindutva policy, imposition of Hindi across India and against attack on federal principles

Speaking at the three day cultural and food festival event titled ‘Mudhalvarin Kalaikalam’ to celebrate Chief Minister Stalin’s 72nd birthday in his assembly constituency, Kolathur, Mr. Haasan said that CM Stalin is not just speaking for the welfare of Tamil Nadu but for all States across India.

“He has involved himself in safeguarding Tamil language and culture. Tamil Nadu is a frontrunner among other States in India as it has been doing well in terms of education, health, jobs, industrial growth and per capita income,” he said.

On account of International Women’s Day, Mr. Haasan urged the Union Government to implement women’s reservation without linking it to delimitation exercise.

“An action (delimitation) that risks undermining our federal unity and calls for a longer national conversation. As I have since its introduction, I continue to urge the Union Government to amend the Constitution (One Hundred and Sixth Amendment) Act,” he said.
