Now surrendered Naxalites and those affected by violence inflicted by the Naxals will receive houses in Chhattisgarh under the Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana.
The State government on Friday (November 29, 2024) announced that the Centre has approved its proposal to provide 15,000 such houses under the welfare scheme.
Hailing the initiative as a major move to connect such people to the mainstream, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that his government was committed to give better life to violence-affected population and those who give up arms.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said that the scheme would especially include those families whose names were not included in the list of Socio Economic Caste Census 2011 and Awas Plus 2018. The Central Government has given permission to upload these names on the Awas Plus portal by December 6.
