BJP leader requests Tealngana CM for R&R package to Baswapur reservoir evacuees

HYDERABAD

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gudur Narayana Reddy has requested Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to come to the rescue of those who were displaced by the Nrusimhasagar Reservoir at Baswapur in Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district as they were grossly neglected by the previous government.

In a statement, he said settling the rehabilitation and resettlement package for the evacuees of the reservoir was pending for over five years now. Though the court had directed the officials to complete the R&R settlement with ₹600 crore in May last year, the then government did not implement it. The victims were left in a deep anguish, he said.

Mr. Narayana Reddy stated that the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Government had decided to construct Nrusimhasagar Reservoir with a capacity of 11 tmc ft as part of the Kaleshwaram project to fill minor irrigation tanks in the combined Nalgonda district. Land acquisition for the reservoir was taken up in 2019 and a large extent of farmlands were acquired for the reservoir construction. The construction of the reservoir was completed without settling the R&R package, he pointed out.
