Akshaya entrepreneurs in Kozhikode district observed a ‘black day’ on Monday (January 20) in protest against the alleged neglect of the State government towards them. The ‘Black Day’ observance was part of the march organised under the aegis of the Forum of Akshaya Centre Entrepreneurs (FACE) to the office of the IT Mission in Thiruvananthapuram.
“We did not want to cause any inconvenience to the public, though we needed to make our voice heard. Hence the Black Day”, said Abdul Nasar I, an Akshaya entrepreneur from Kozhikode, whose centre was functional on Monday even as he took part in the march in Thiruvananthapuram.
One of the major complaints raised by FACE is that the rates of Akshaya services were rarely revised in a timely manner. The mushrooming of ‘fake’ online service centres mimicking Akshaya has also been a headache to the entrepreneurs. They have demanded immediate clearance of arrears to Akshaya Kendras providing Aadhaar services, change in the transfer regime of Akshaya Kendras and ending of ‘unfair’ Vigilance checks.
Around 2,000 Akshaya entrepreneurs from 14 districts took part in the march in Thiruvananthapuram which was inaugurated by Opposition leader V.D.Satheesan.
