It is important for the youth of today to assume leadership roles across all sectors, thereby enhancing the reputation of the State, said Minister for Transport, Youth Affairs and Sports Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy on Friday.

The Minister said this during his visit as chief guest at the Annamayya district youth festival held at BITS Engineering College in Ramapuram mandal. He emphasised the value of such festivals in showcasing the aspirations of students.

“If the youth embrace the belief that nothing is unattainable, they must select a constructive path and engage in initiatives that will benefit society. Our youth is now competing on a global scale and making significant strides in various fields. They need to choose a positive direction and strive for greater achievements. Each individual should establish a goal and commit to the pursuit of that objective,” he said.

Mr. Ramprasad Reddy urged the youth to abstain from drugs and intoxicants, advocating for them to emulate the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. “Every student aspires to excel not only academically but also in athletic pursuits,” he remarked.

Regarding the prevalence of road accidents, the Minister expressed his concerns, noting the devastating impact of such incidents on families and the critical shortage of blood in donation centres, which has resulted in the loss of numerous lives. “I encourage the youth to engage in blood donation and become life savers for others. Everyone should donate blood at least once a year, as this practice also contributes to maintaining one’s health,” he said.

The event was attended by senior officials from the Medical and Health departments, faculty members, and students from BITS College.
