Officials of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) have seized 729 kg of ganja and 16.5 kg of charas from different locations in Tamil Nadu.
According to a senior official in the agency, special teams seized 273 kg ganja in Madurai, 156 ganja near Usilampatti (Madurai district), and 300 kg ganja at Nallur Toll Plaza near Chennai. Four accused persons were taken into custody.
In Madurai, two suspects, including a Maldivian national, were arrested for being in possession of 16.5 kg charas. The seizures were made in the last 10 days, the official said, adding that the operation against the contraband substances was still on.
