A Tiruvannamalai-bound tourist bus toppled on the Krishnagiri-Tindivanam National Highway in Uthangarai in the district, injuring over 40 persons, of which six have been critically injured.
The tourist bus was carrying Melmaruvathur-bound pilgrims from Paaparapatti in Dharmapuri at the time of the accident
The accident occurred near Veeriyampantty junction, where the driver of bus lost control of the wheel, causing the vehicle to topple on the national highway onto the abutting fields.
The injured persons were rushed to the Uthangarai government hospital; the driver too has been critically injured.
