₹19 crore for restoration of roads damaged in rain

The State government has sanctioned a sum of ₹19.18 crore for the immediate restoration of roads and other infrastructure that have become non-motorable due to the monsoon fury in the previous year. The works in the category of ‘immediate restoration and improvement of the damaged road and other infrastructure’ should be completed at the earliest. Works falling within the jurisdiction of the District Panchayat, Municipality, and Corporation should be carried out by the respective Engineering Department.

Works falling within the limits of the grama panchayat should be carried out by the Engineering department of the Block Panchayats to which the panchayat concerned belongs. In the absence of the Engineering department of the local government bodies, the work shall be carried out by the assistant executive engineers of the PWD (Special Buildings) and PWD (Roads and Bridges) departments coming under the jurisdiction of the area where the work is to be carried out, said a government order.
