A local court on Friday sentenced three persons to life imprisonment for strangling a 48-year-old woman to death with a rope in Rajamahendravaram city on December 2, 2013.
In an official release, East Godavari Superintendent of Police D. Narasimha Kishore said that three persons, identified as D. Naga Mahesh, D. Lakshmana Rao and Nakka Chandu, have been convicted by a local court in the 2013 murder case.
A native of Rajamahendravaram city, Pucchala Naga Bharathi, used to purchase samosas from the two accused, Naga Mahesh and Lakshmana Rao, to run her canteen at a local school. On December 2, 2013, the victim placed a bulk order for samosas for a family function.
“The duo who arrived at her canteen to deliver the samosas resorted to the attack for her jewellery. The duo with the support of their friend, Nakka Chandu, strangled the victim to death with a rope and fled,” Mr. Narasimha Kishore said. The court also imposed fine of ₹5,000 on the charge of murder and ₹3,000 for stealing jewellery.
