Nine migrant workers killed, one injured in construction site accident at Ennore SEZ thermal power project
Nine migrant workers from Assam died and one person was injured when scaffolding came crashing down at a construction site in the Ennore Special Economic Zone thermal power project near Ponneri on Tuesday (September 30, 2025). The group of workers were building a concrete arch for the 1,320-MW Ennore SEZ thermal power stations when the accident took place, according to a senior official in the Avadi police commissioner’s office. They were working at a height of more than 20 feet when the iron scaffolding installed for the construction of the arch collapsed.
Curfew relaxed in Leh; Kargil-based group sets terms to resume talks
Curfew was relaxed on Tuesday in Ladakh’s Leh town, where violent protests over the demands for Statehood and inclusion in the Sixth Schedule left four civilians dead on September 24. Amid the efforts to restore normality in the town, the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA), a Kargil-based umbrella organisation of social, political and religious groups, on Tuesday announced its decision to withdraw from talks with the Centre scheduled for October 6. The KDA’s decision came a day after the Leh Apex Body (LAB), a Leh-based conglomerate of social, political and religious groups, decided to boycott the talks.

Bihar had just five Passport and Foreigners Act cases in 2023: NCRB report
With the Bharatiya Janata Party raising illegal migration and infiltration as key issues ahead of the Assembly election in Bihar, the latest data by the National Crime Records Bureau shows that only five cases pertaining to the Foreigners and Passport Acts were registered in the State in 2023. The number of such cases in 2022 and 2021 stood at three and one respectively.
