Telangana | Third highest rainfall recorded in Kukatpally circle; thundershowers likely in Hyderabad on Saturday evening or night

The sun shone over Hyderabad on Saturday (July 19, 2025). However, traffic flow in parts of the city remained affected by the heavy rain that lashed the city on Friday (July 18, 2025) evening. 

According to Telangana Development Planning Society’s data, recorded from Friday morning 8.30 a.m. to Saturday morning, the highest rain of 129.5 mm was recorded in Pulkal mandal of Sangareddy, followed by 123.5 mm in Dharmasagar of Chevella mandal of Rangareddy. And, the third highest of 115.3 mm was in Bowenpally Ward Office area, Medchal Malkajgiri. 

When data from the city and its surrounding areas is reviewed, the highest rainfall after the Bowenpally Ward Office area in the Kukatpally circle was 115.0 mm in the Pikit Health Centre area of Maredpally, followed by 101.5 mm in the Nacharam Ward Office area of Uppal.

India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its morning forecast for Hyderabad and its neighborhood, stated that light to moderate rain or thundershowers, at times intense spells, accompanied with gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely in the city towards evening/night.

Hyderabad in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who is also Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister, is regularly reviewing the situation. He said that coordination with authorities ensured there are no problems at 141 waterlogging points.
