The Tamil Nadu government on Monday inked some memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in Germany, including the one with the Munich-headquartered Knorr-Bremse, during Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s ongoing visit to the European nation.
The company will invest ₹2,000 crore in the establishment of an advanced facility for making railway doors and braking systems. This will be Knorr-Bremse’s first-ever major manufacturing investment in Tamil Nadu. The project is expected to generate jobs for 3,500 persons.
Another MoU was signed with Nordex Group, one of the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturers. The company will invest ₹1,000 crore in a project that will likely create 2,500 jobs. The other MoU was signed with ebm-papst, a company that focusses on energy-efficient electric motors and air movement solutions. The company will expand its global capability centre and manufacturing base in the State. With a proposed investment of ₹201 crore over five years, the expansion is likely to generate employment for 250 people in the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC), automotive, and industrial sectors.
Mr. Stalin also met senior leaders of the BMW Group, who expressed interest in expansion in Tamil Nadu. The Chief Minister highlighted Tamil Nadu’s dominance in the automotive and electric vehicle sectors and invited BMW to deepen its engagement with India through Tamil Nadu.
