Former Director of Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Raipur, Ram Kumar Kakani, urged students to stay focused on their goals and achieve it through hard work, dedication and diligence.

Addressing the students at the third convocation for MCA and MBA students from online, open and distance learning modes, along with the first convocation for polytechnic education, at the Vignan’s University campus in Vadlamudi, Guntur district, on Sunday, Dr, Kakani advised the students against getting addicted to social media and instead prioritise their personal and professional goals.

Stating that the youth can play a pivotal role in building the nation, he said that students should offer their strength, skills and ideas with the support and encouragement of their teachers, academics and institutions. He encouraged them to prepare themselves to face challenges and contribute meaningfully to society.

RR Sports founder Vijayawada Galla Radha Rani said that perseverance is the real investment to achieve one’s goals. She said that besides academics, students should also take active part in sports and cultural activities as it would help them develop their personality. “Playing at least one sport will result in both physical fitness and mental well-being,” she emphasised.

Vignan’s University Vice-Chancellor Col. P. Nagabhushan said that degrees were awarded to a total of 1,191 students from different disciplines and informed that 50 per cent of the graduates were women.

Vignan Institutions chairman Lavu Rathaiah said that innovation begins by identifying societal problems. He encouraged students to first understand societal challenges and then initiate new projects to address them. He cited examples like RedBus and AbhiBus that originated from recognising the issues in buying bus tickets. He urged students to change their perspectives, leverage technology, and create impactful innovations.

Vignan Institutions vice-chairman Lavu Srikrishna Devarayalu emphasised that students must engage in continuous learning to reach greater heights. He said that the world is starting to look at India not just as an economic power, but as a leader in global culture and civilization.
