The film has already set cash registers ringing within 38 hours of the advance bookings open for the movie.While it has sold around 85,000 tickets in the top three national chains – PVRINOX and Cinepolis, the film has sold more than 1.22 lakh tickets so far through the country, according to Sacnilk.com. This number is much more than many recent films within 38 hours. As per a report by Pinkvilla, ‘Tiger 3‘ sold 72,000 tickets in 38 hours while ‘Brahmastra‘ sold 65,000 tickets. Both these films went on to eventually sell more than 3,00,000 tickets upto the midnight of the release date. With this advances for ‘Stree 2’, coming in, it is likely that the film may come close to ‘Animal‘, which had sold 4.56 lakhs until the midnight of the release.
One hopes that ‘Stree 2’ will generate a double digit number on its Day 1 but time will tell how the film does. The dynamics may change further, depending on the word of mouth for all the three movie releases. One saw that last year on Independence Day, ‘Gadar 2’ and ‘OMG 2’ had released and both did well, in their given spaces.
