Injured Ghosal hopeful things will fall in place soon

Saurav Ghosal, who had withdrawn due to a hip injury from the ongoing Indian Tour Squash Championship here, said on Tuesday that it’s an injury that has gradually developed over time.

Waiting for clarity

“At least, from what the doctors are telling me, it’s not something which has happened in one movement or something. It’s something which has kind of gradually come into play.

“We are waiting on a few things to transpire. So, I’m hopeful that I will have a clearer idea maybe later this week or early next week. We’ve done all the scans and all of that.

Unable to pinpoint

“It could be either (major or minor). So, that’s what we don’t know. We are not able to pinpoint exactly what it is. We will know for sure in two months, but that’s a long time. So, we are trying to see if we can figure it out earlier. I am waiting, basically. Life is in limbo right now. I’m kind of in a stalemate. So, I’m hopeful that things will fall in place, and I’ll have some good news in the next week or so,” he said at the Indian Squash and Triathlon Academy on the sidelines of the tournament.

Back with a bang

Last month, the 38-year-old won his first PSA Challenger event — the Octane Sydney Classic, where he dropped only one game — after coming out of retirement.

“It was good to be back competing. It was nice to kind of win it. And do the things that I have been practicing — to put it actually into a match.

“I know the level that I have right now. So, in that sense, it’s what I can do — the way I can play, and the level that I’m playing at. I think that was more of a reaffirmation,” Ghosal said.
