Mubashira Patel, a 26-year-old Sociology student of Mumbai University, won the Srinivas Rayaprol Poetry Prize, 2025.
She was selected from among 126 entries by a jury comprising poet and fiction writer Sharmistha Mohanty and two faculty members of Department of English at the University of Hyderabad.
Another entry, Abhilipsa Sahoo, from Bhubaneswar received the jury’s special mention. The Srinivas Rayaprol Poetry Prize was instituted in 2009 to recognise excellence in English poetry by poets in the age group of 20-40 years.
The prize, including a citation and cash award of ₹15,000, will be presented on October 25, marking the birth centenary of Srinivas Rayaprol.
