Six arrested in Amritsar with 4 k.g. heroin, 2 pistols: Punjab Police

Punjab Police on Thursday (September 25, 2025) claimed to have busted a narcotics and arms supply network with the arrest of six persons from Amritsar, and recovered 4.03 k.g of heroin and two firearms, including a 9 MM Glock pistol, from their possession.

Those arrested have been identified as Jagir Singh alias Sucha (35), Angrej Singh (20), Lakhwinder Singh alias Lucky (24) and Baljinder Singh (42), all from Ferozepur district, and Gurpreet Singh (30) and Palwinder Singh (35) from Tarn Taran district, DGP Gaurav Yadav said.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused persons were in touch with a Pakistan-based handler named Shah through social media, the DGP said.

“The accused were receiving heroin and weapons consignments in Khemkaran and Ferozepur sectors, which were pushed in by Pakistani smugglers using drones for supply in the Amritsar area,” the DGP said, adding that a probe is underway to expose the racket’s entire nexus.

Sharing operation details, Amritsar Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said in an intelligence-led operation, Jagir and Angrej, who are cousins and run a ‘dhaba’ in Ferozepur, were arrested with 220 gm of heroin and a Glock pistol.

Based on the disclosures made by the arrested duo, Gurpreet, Palwinder, Lakhwinder and Baljinder were arrested later, Bhullar said.

Acting on the lead generated during the interrogation of Jagir, Palwinder and Gurpreet, police seized 2.813 kg of heroin along with a .30 bore pistol.

Further interrogation of Lakhwinder and Baljinder led to the recovery of an additional chunk of 1 kg heroin, taking the total seizure to 4.03 kg, Bhullar said.
