The death toll from the Shalibanda fire has risen to two after Gomathi Enterprises owner Shiva Kumar Bansal, who sustained 80% burn injuries, succumbed during treatment at Apollo DRDO Hospital late on Tuesday (November 25, 2025) night.
According to the police, the information about his death was received around 10 p.m.
The blaze broke out between 10.15 and 10.20 p.m. on Monday (November 24) in a G+2 commercial and residential building with a penthouse, just as the shop was closing for the day, promoting a large scale emergency response from fire and police officials that lasted for more than four hours. One person died at the spot, while eight others were injured.
Over 30 hours after the incident, the identity of the other deceased person is still unknown. Moghalpura police issued a lookout circular on Tuesday (November 25), but no one has come forward to claim the body so far.
Two salesmen — Ganesh Vijay Kumar and Karthik Mahadev — remain under treatment at Osmania General Hospital with 30% burn injuries. Others sustained minor injuries, three of whom were administered first aid.
Hyderabad District Fire Officer-II Ajmeera Sreedas said as of preliminary examination, the blaze originated inside the building, likely due to electrical reasons. A detailed probe is underway to determine the exact cause.
A case was booked by the Moghalpura police and further investigation is underway.
